The Inaugural Virginia Tobacco-Free Higher Education Summit grew out of a partnership between Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center and University of Virginia Cancer Center. Together, they brought in partners from around Virginia to assist in the planning and implementation of the summit. There were 98 people in attendance, from 18 Virginia colleges and universities and 2 out-of-state universities. The agenda covered a variety of topics, including education and awareness, policy and enforcement, cessation resources, and action planning.
The Eliminate Tobacco Use Summit welcomes all variety of professionals working in higher education, professionals working in tobacco prevention, cessation, and policy, as well as community and non-profit partners whose mission aligns with that of Eliminate Tobacco Use. Summit organizers reserve the right to decline participant or exhibitor registration to any entity not meeting these inclusion criteria.
